A year ago, when intel atom processor introduced early, the processor system-on-chip (SOC) from Intel’s CE3100 was announced. Now comes the latest variant of Intel CE4100.
SOC is a combination of an x86-based processor combined with the media processor for audio and video processing, including 3D view. By Intel, SOC was more intended to be used in consumer electronic devices, especially for multimedia needs such as set top box or interface for television. Intel Atom Processor CE4100 has a code name Sodaville, and is the first SOC processor from Intel that are made with the 45nm manufacturing process technology. It’s integrated with 512K L2 cache, NAND flash controller, memory controller for DDR2 or DDR3 memory, display processor, graphics processor, video display controller, transport processors, security processors, and general I/O, and also support SATA-300 interface and USB 2.0.
Intel Atom Processor CE4100 work at 1.2 GHz maximum clock, with the level of low power needs. Features on the Intel Media Processor CE3100 earlier also exist in a single processor in this SOC. With a little bit sizes greater than CE3100, equipped with Intel Precision View Technology for the ability to play high-definition files, including hardware support for 1080p video codec or 3D view. This makes Intel Atom CE4100 able to play movies from Blu-ray disc.
