Known as Voice over IP, VoIP is a common term of transmission technologies to deliver voice communications inter-IP networks like internet. Another terms that related with VoIP are VoBB (voice over broadband), broadband phone, IP telephony, and Internet telephony.
And Ventrilo is an adding-new-entertainment for your gaming experience. Yes, you can talk with your friends in other place while you play games. How cool is that? This Ventrilo is also useful for business things.
After some research, for you who have static IP is be able to combine it with Ventrilo. Below is the step to set-up a Ventrilo chat server using a static IP, I suggest to take a static IP from DynDNS.com because it is easy and free to obtain a static hostname from them. Most ISPs will not give you you a static IP for free. OK, lets get to the step.
Create a Static Hostname at DynDNS.com
First, create a static hostname at DynDNS.com. Visit to DynDNS.com, signing up, then choose DynDNS Free. After that you will be asked to decide a hostname, selecting from 1 from 80 domains. Displayed at the picture below.
Then, you will have to decide the current external IP for your computer which you want to utilize as a host (The computer which you use to sign-up for DynDNS). Just clink the link under the IP Address field: “Your current location’s IP address is [IP address]“.
Then, at the bottom, selecting the services and devices that you would like to host using your static hostname. Choose Chat Server (for Ventrilo). Finish, click Add to Cart.
After that, you will be asked to make an account (for FREE). Fill out the form, check your inbox at your email, click the activation link, then press the “Activate Services” button. DynDNS will track dynamic IP of your computer, and redirect the hostname that you have selected to it.
Run the Ventrilo Server
Second step is downloading and installing the Ventrilo server software from Ventrilo.com (not the Ventrilo client). After download and install done, change the settings for the server, edit the ventrilo_srv.ini. Image below.
Only change the server-name, password, and the admin password fields, let another settings as default (if you want one). Then run the ventrilo_srv.exe (image below) to launch the server.

Finish, you and your friends (up to seven) can run the Ventrilo client software, and put through to the hostname which you got from DynDNS.
