We are already entering a new realm of e-reader price wars: Amazon has just reduced the price of the Kindle from $260 to $189. While Barnes & Noble’s Wi-Fi only model of Nook will only cost at $149. The Kindle will stay be available with 3G wireless connectivity, but without any annual contracts or monthly charges.
The price cuts might indicating that Amazon is anticipating the arrival of iOS 4. With the advent of the most anticipated iOS 4, which comes with Apple’s iBooks app to loads of devices, Kindle is also having a new rival: the iPhone. Despite the iPhone doesn’t have the larger screen and well book-friendly interface, the obstruction to join the war is now ridiculously low, because all iPhone user can download the iBooks app for free and begin browsing for titles without additional hardware needed.
So, Do you think is good news for you? Do you think the new price will affect customer decisions to buy iPad or even iPhone 4?
